  • walks around the city

can anyone recommend any nice routes to take
for a walk within the city -

ie, somewhere you dont need to drive to first!

i enjoy walking, but get a bit bored of walking the same old routes
    day after day.

I'll walk down any route so long as it has plenty of bus stops on it. Then if I get tired and I can soon hop on a bus back home.
lol I'm not much of a walking fan, can you tell? lol

I always take my bike on my walks too, Then if I start flagging at least I can have a sit down.

      i love walking!!
when i first started i could barely walk to the top of my street
but now i like to walk to most places i need to be.
the problem is, i dont need to be at that many places so i tend to walk to the same old all the time!

      my main routes are ;
work and back (bricknell ave to town)
sisters and back (bricknell ave to northgate cottingham)
mams and back - priory road to bricknell ave- and route thats NOT 10 minutes over the hotham road footbridge.

Just a suggestion- have you thought of joining a walking club? My friend belongs to one and she loves it. I think they meet up in out of town places though, but there may be some local ones.

iv thought about that.... the only problem is most clubs
hold their walks on a sunday- i do most of my walking
during the week. my boyfriend is normally here on a
weekend so sunday is reserved chill day!

When it's not so muddy, it's a decent trek along the River Hull, between the bridges.
But be carefull as some parts are not safe, especially towards Clough Road.

Well whether you'll need a car or not sort of depends on where you live.
Me and a friend walk around various routes in Hull on a Sunday morning as an alternative to the gym. I guess we get maybe 40 a year in with the balance lost to weather generally speaking. We tend to start at the gym on Mount Pleasant. A nice spring/summer route is to follow Mount Pleasant to the old Foredyke Stream path about as far as Rockford fields...then walk along the outskirts of the field and back along the old Hull/Hornsea line. There are plenty of variables for the return via say Garden Village / Holderness Road, East Park etc. etc.

I'll post one a week on here if people seem interested.
