  • emails to council members

Yesterday, it emerged (on BBC Look North) that people who sent emails to their elected representatives in Beverley/ East Yorkshire discovered that their communications were read and FILTERED by council employees. (Prior to being seen by the person to whom they were addressed.)

They are claiming that this is routine standard practice.

So, if you are dissatisfied with the council, and believe someone is not performing the function for which you are paying them, they can intercept your attempt to raise the issue with the appropriate elected representative.

Just one more way in which our democracy is subverted then!

Have any of our members any experience of this?

I am extremely surprised to find nothing online about this: I do find myself concerned that embarrassing stuff does get suppressed in this area.
